The North Vancouver Recreation Commission has everything you need to qualify to teach swimming. Choose how you want to progress through our Advanced Aquatic Awards by finding out what certifications you need in the chart below. You can search for the next course dates in eReg (these courses are listed under Aquatics-Specialty) and then register online or in person at your local pool.

Advanced Aquatic Awards
You must obtain the appropriate certifications to be considered for employment as a swimming instructor. Re-certifications are required to maintain a "current" status for employment. If your Water Safety Instructor's certification has lapsed for 4 years or more, please refer to the Canadian Red Cross*.
Start with your Bronze Medallion, followed by a Bronze Cross. From there, use the table below to find out what additional swim instruction certifications you need.
