Interested in becoming a fitness instructor or personal trainer?

North Vancouver Centres offer BCRPA-approved courses that will give you the skills to work in the fitness, health and wellness industry. Whether you want to teach safe, enjoyable group classes or become an independent personal trainer, the combination of courses, exams and practicum work listed below will give you the background you need to succeed.

Become a fitness professional! All courses are BCRPA approved to provide you with work-ready

skills in the fitness, health and wellness area. Visit www.bcrpa.bc.ca for more information. Here's

how to get started:

To become a Group Fitness or Aquafit Instructor

1. Complete Fitness Theory course and write BCRPA Theory Exam

2. Complete a recognized CPR/First Aid course

3. Become a BCRPA Fitness Member

4. Complete the Group Fitness or Aquafit Instructor Specialty module

5. Complete your practicum (min. 8 hours)

6. Complete evaluation requirements (ICE)

To become a Personal Trainer

1. Complete Fitness Theory course and write BCRPA Theory Exam

2. Complete a recognized CPR/First Aid course

3. Become a BCRPA Fitness Member

4. Complete the Weight Training Module

5. Complete the Weight Training evaluation requirements (ICE)

6. Complete 20 client programs

7. Complete the Personal Training Module and exam

8. Complete the Personal Training evaluation requirements (ICE)

**BCRPA exam, registration and manual fees will be an additional cost to all BCRPA programs and modules.

Before registering for any of the BCRPA Specialty Modules you will need to have completed the following process first:

Step 1 Pass (80% or higher) the Fitness Theory Exam

Step 2 Demonstrate current CPR and First Aid Certifications

Step 3 Register with the BCRPA
