Lower Capilano Partnership Committee
The Lower Capilano Partnership Committee was created in January 2007 with the goal of improving community infrastructures and supports in five communities of the Lower Capilano area:
- Lions Gate
- Lower Capilano
- Norgate
- Pemberton Heights
- Woodcroft
This unique group of community service providers, community resident association leaders and community members share and work toward a common vision for the Lower Cap area. The Committee's key objectives focus on:
- Filling in the gaps in neighborhood needs
- Building cross-neighborhood relationships and
- Implementing sustainable social, recreational and educational programs for families and people of all ages & cultures
Support for Lower Cap initiatives has been provided by the District of North Vancouver through funding grants and by the Vancouver Recreation Commission through direct staff support. Grant funding is targeted both to enhancing existing programs and developing new ones.
Grant Recipients
Here is a list of grant recipients for the 2011 Lower Capilano Community Enhancement Initiative Grant:
- Capilano Community Services Society – Seniors Tea and Social Seniors meet 1 a month for tea and entertainment. Food is served by dedicated volunteers, there is always a performer, or group of entertainers. The Library provides a book return and lending service during the tea and social for seniors who may have difficulty getting to the library.
- North Shore Community Resources – Summer Start Program Squamish Nation Families were provided with a summer program that provided opportunities to drop in and do early learning with their child while connecting with each other and other resources available to them.
- North Shore Multicultural Society- Youth Meet Up Program helps you connect with other newcomer youth and find different activities to socialize and get accustomed to a new environment.
- Capilano Gateway Society - Bench sessions - 3 sessions facilitated by speakers in different field of community building give presentations to the open public about how to create healthy neighbourhoods.
- Capilano United Church- funding as seed money for regular program serving all ages at the church.
- North Shore ConneXions Society – Steady Feet Project LCPC provided funding to support the production of a Falls Prevention Video.

- Capilano Gateway Association- Mural painting for entrance through to Belle Isle Park along trail to Curling Rd.
- Norgate - Block party
- Lower Capilano Marine - Community Party
- Pemberton Heights Community Association - Canada Day Community Picnic
