If you prefer to work more closely with a kinesiologist, ask the weight room supervisor at your nearest Recreation Commission weight room about our supervised rehabilitation services.
Health Management
Diabetes fitness classes focus on gentle exercises that help you lose weight, decrease the need for insulin, lower cholesterol and avoid complications. Referral by physician or medical professional required. For information, email Min Naruki-Van Velzen or call him at 604-604-904-0810 .
Osteo/arthritis fitness exercises help develop muscle strength, bone mass, reaction time...and reduce the risks of falling. Physician's referral recommended. For more information, call 604-983-6428.
Adapted fitness is a registered program with a drop-in option. Classes consist of self-paced chair and water exercises for people with mobility, coordination, strength and flexibility limitations due to disability, chronic illness, stroke or injury. Join Andy Demeule at William Griffin for the chair or pool portion of this class, or both, Monday & Wednesday from 1:00pm to 2:45pm. For prices and a referral, call 604-983-6534.

Cardiac Rehabilitation
This program caters to anyone who has a heart condition or who has had a heart attack. Our cardiac fitness classes follow the levels determined by the American Heart Association. Each class is staffed with health professionals who have been certified by the American College of Sports Medicine as an Exercise Specialist for people recovering from heart disease. All staff have C.P.R. certification. We offer:

Joint Replacement Rehabilitation Program
Whether you've had a joint replaced or are waiting for surgery, you"ll need to strengthen muscles surrounding the joint, improve flexibility and mobility, and enhance your overall fitness. Our fitness consultants can supervise a carefully designed circuit in our weight room facilities and wave pool. A physio referral is required.

Stroke Rehabilitation Program
Specifically designed for anyone who has had a cerebral vascular accident, this program focuses on developing a full range of movement for small and large muscle groups. Some speech therapy may be involved. A physician's referral may be required. Phone 604-983-6553 for more detailed information.
