Did you Know?
- The game follows the same rules the International Tennis Federation has for able-bodied tennis players- but it allows the wheelchair tennis player two bounces of the ball.
- Wheelchair tennis is played on a regular tennis court, with regular racquets and balls.
- Tetraplegics and quadriplegics can play by strapping or taping a palm paddle to their hand.
- Beginners don't require a sports wheelchair.
- Players using a day chair can improve their stability by strapping themselves into the chair (waist, knees and ankles).
- The opportunities for junior wheelchair players are increasing all the time, and the International Tennis Federation now has a structured program and international junior ranking system in place.
