Aquatics
Lifeguard and Swim Instructor
Perform lifeguarding duties, ensuring the safety of patrons utilizing the aquatic facility and supervising the use of the swimming and related recreation areas such as whirlpool, sauna, solariums and exercise rooms. Conduct instructional and recreational aquatic programs for all age ranges and for a variety of special community groups.
Required knowledge, abilities and skills: Knowledge of the theory of lifesaving, CPR and first aid. Completion of the twelfth school grade, supplemented by courses in lifesaving and aquatics is desired.
Required Certifications: National Lifeguard Service Award Pool Option (LSC), Lifesaving Instructor (LSC), Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Level I and II, Basic Rescuer CPR or equivalent, Aquatic Emergency Care or equivalent.
Wages: Starting at $20.45 per hour plus 12% in lieu of benefits.
Arena Programs
Skate Attendant
Responsible for providing safety patrols of the ice and building, first aid as well as supporting special events and games during public skating sessions. Duties also include rental skate maintenance and support of skating lessons.
Qualifications: Standard First Aid Certification and good skating ability. Coaching or refereeing experience and skate sharpening experience is preferred.
Wages: Starting at $16.81 per hour plus 12% in lieu of benefits
Skate Instructor
Responsible for planning and leading a group of children and/or adults in a series of ice skate lessons. Must be at least 16yrs old with an athletic aptitude and have experience planning and leading sport activities for children would be an asset. Volunteer experience, training in High Five Program – Principles of Healthy Child Development Workshop and NCCP Theory Part A and/or B would also be an asset.

Fitness & Wellness
Health & Lifestyle Consultant (Fitness Advisor)
Duties include personal training, review of health and lifestyle issues and medical conditioning, providing fitness training and weight room orientation for facility users
Qualifications, desirable training and experience: Ability to evaluate individuals’ fitness levels, develop individual weight training and fitness programs, and provide advice, guidance and referral services relative to health, fitness and wellness matters. Completion of a two year community college or university program and related experience in a weight room or rehabilitation.
Required Certification: St John’s First Aid Certificate or equivalent, CPR Certificate – Level A, Registered with BCRPA Fitness Leadership Registration Program.
Wages: Starting at $23.96 per hour plus 12% in lieu of benefits
Weight Room Attendant
This is public contact work at a community facility which involves the performance of a variety of routing tasks to assist patrons. Duties would include: greeting patrons; providing security; responding appropriately to accident and other emergency situations; and performing related work as required.
Qualifications: Ability to respond quickly, calmly and efficiently to emergency situations. St John’s First Aid Certificate (or equivalent) as well as a CPR certificate would be an asset.
Wages: Starting at $16.82 per hour plus 12% in lieu of benefits.
Fitness Instructors
e.g. yoga, dance, Zumba, aerobics.
Sports Instructors
Administrative
Customer Service / Front Office
Perform cashiering, clerical and receptionist duties in our recreation facility front offices. Provide information and assistance to the public regarding recreation programs and registration, as well as receive and process payment from patrons.
Qualifications: Responsible and detail minded with a high level of interpersonal and problem solving skills. The ability to work well in various team settings including working with other members of the facility staff as well as providing service to the general public. Previous customer service, cashiering experience and training is desirable. Knowledge of Class software, MS Excel and Word would be an asset.
Wages: Starting at $18.90 per hour plus 12% in lieu of benefits.
Children's Programs
Licensed Preschool Teacher
Ability to provide a wide variety of programs and activities for preschool aged children, as well as work closely and cooperatively with parents, other preschool teachers and volunteers.
Certifications: Must have current ECE and Childsafe First Aid Certification.
Wages: Starting at $21.24 per hour plus 12% in lieu of benefits.
Child Care Attendant (childminding)
Provision of personal care for groups of children whose parents are participating in activities, or programs, in the building or facility where the care is provided. Responsible for ensuring that children play safely during care sessions.
Desirable Training and Experience: Related experience in the caring for groups of infants and preschool age children. ECE training and licensed care experience desirable. Current Childsafe certificate or equivalent would be an asset.
Wages: Starting at $17.48 per hour plus 12% in lieu of benefits.
Daycamp Leader
Ability to prepare and lead a wide variety of programs and activities for school aged children and youth (i.e. arts and crafts, social, sports); create detailed lesson plans and camp itineraries.
Qualifications: Must have a minimum of 2 years experience working with children in a variety of settings and hold a current First Aid/Childsafe certificate and Food Safe.
Wages: Starting at $17.38 per hour plus 12% in lieu of benefits.

Recreation
Recreation Programmer
Work involves planning, developing and implementing a variety of community based recreation and social programs and special events. The programmer will be responsible to engage the community to ensure programs and services are responsive to community need.
Qualifications: Knowledge of the recreational, social and cultural interests, requirements and resources of area being served. College or university graduation with courses in recreation or related subject is required.
Wages: Starting at $27.02 per hour
Recreation Program Worker
Recreation work involved in planning, scheduling and implementation of recreational, social and cultural programs in recreation facilities.
Qualifications: Knowledge of the recreational, social and cultural interest, requirements and resources of the area served. Knowledge of sports, social activities, crafts, arts and other pursuits related to various recreational programs. Courses in recreation or related subjects, supplemented by related experience.
Wages: Starting at $23.96 per hour plus 12% in lieu of benefits
General Recreation Instructors
e.g. Music instructor, ballet, dance, arts & crafts, pottery etc.
Building Maintenance
Building Services Attendant
Duties include setting up and moving furniture and equipment at various recreation facilities, carry out a variety of cleaning, minor maintenance and/or building service tasks.
Qualifications: Knowledge of standard methods, materials and equipment used in janitorial care and building maintenance.
Wages: Starting at $18.90 per hour plus 12% in lieu of benefits
Building Services Worker
Work involves cleaning, and janitorial and custodial tasks on an assigned shift in and around a recreation facility.
Qualifications: Knowledge of routine building maintenance and minor repair tasks. Preference given to those completing a Building Service Worker Program.
Wages: Starting at $20.45 per hour plus 12% in lieu of benefits
Utility Maintenance Worker
Operates refrigeration, ice making and resurfacing equipment in the production and maintenance of ice rinks. Also required to work with pools to test and regulate water for proper chemical balance, chlorination and filtration.
Certifications: BC Refrigeration Operators Certificate.
Qualifications: Knowledge of materials and equipment used in ice-making and refrigeration operations. Knowledge of water chlorination and filtration equipment.
Wages: $21.61 per hour plus 12% in lieu of benefits.
Arts & Culture (Centennial Theatre)
Box Office Cashier
Ushers / Ticket Taker (Door Attendant)
Greets and assists patrons to their seats. Distributes programs and provide event information for theatre performances. Responds appropriately to accidents and other emergency situations.
Wages: $16.82 per hour plus 12% in lieu of benefits
